Soto Phone (“we”) handles the personal information of people who join our pre-order list as described below. We only collect what we need to send you updates.

2. What we collect
- Your email address (required)
- Your prefecture in Japan (optional)
- Whether you’d like to try a prototype (optional)
- When you signed up, the page language, a record of your consent to this policy, when we sent your confirmation email, and any unsubscribe request
We don’t collect your name, address, phone number or payment details.
3. Why we use it
- To email you about the launch, pre-orders and development progress
- To invite you to prototype trials
- To decide where to add partner shops (prefectures are only counted in totals)
- To answer your questions
We don’t use it for anything else. We don’t use it for advertising and we never sell it.
4. Sharing
We don’t share your personal information with third parties without your consent, unless the law requires it.
5. Services we use
- Google LLC (USA): Google Workspace (Sheets, Gmail, Apps Script) stores sign-ups and sends confirmation emails. Data may be stored on Google servers outside Japan, including in the US. Google follows international security standards such as ISO/IEC 27001.
- Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): hosts this website. Your IP address and browser type may be logged by Cloudflare to deliver the site securely.
Fonts are served from this site, so no browsing data is sent to Google Fonts or similar services. We don’t use analytics or advertising tools.
6. Cookies and browser storage
This site doesn’t use cookies and has no analytics or advertising tags, so we don’t show a cookie banner.
When you sign up, we keep a small “signed up” flag in your browser’s local storage so you aren’t asked to sign up twice. It doesn’t contain your email address, is never sent anywhere, and you can clear it in your browser settings.
If we ever add cookies, for example for analytics, we’ll update this page and ask for your consent first.
7. How long we keep it
Until we’ve finished launch updates, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. If we stop developing Soto Phone, we’ll let you know and delete it.
8. Security
Only our representative can access sign-up data.
9. Unsubscribing, access and deletion
Every email we send has a link at the bottom to unsubscribe or delete all your data at any time.
To see, correct, restrict or delete your data in any other way, email hello@sotophone.jp from the address you signed up with. We’ll confirm it’s you and respond promptly.
10. Children
- We don’t accept sign-ups from children under 13. A parent can sign up with their own email address instead.
- If you’re 13 to 15, please get a parent’s permission before signing up.
If we learn that a child under 13 has signed up, we’ll delete their information right away.
11. If you live in the EU or UK
We process your data based on your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Changes
We’ll post any changes on this page and email you about important ones.
